Protein: Obviously the most crucial ingredient in any muscle-builder’s diet, protein should come in lean form. Grilled chicken breast, salmon and eggs (lots of eggs) are an important part of your diet and should be eaten about 1 hour before and then within 30 minutes after a grueling workout.
Carbs: We’re talking refined, energy-producing carbs like pasta. They’re best consumed about 3 hours before a big workout in conjunction with a lot of water and, of course, protein. You’ll get a burst of energy.
Caffeine: We tend to stay away from caffeine supplements as they contain WAY too much but a shot of espresso or an energy drink about 30 minutes before a big workout can really help you power through and take your workout to the next level but don’t do it every day or you’ll become immune.
