Safety Tips To Follow When Body Building Alone
Bodybuilders are known for weight training very regularly and intensely. Some choose to always workout with a partner. This partner provides motivation and also assists with spotting. Spotting is needed when bench pressing a very heavy amount of weight or when performing squats with heavy weights. Without a spotter, a bodybuilder’s weight training can be very unsafe. But what about those that enjoy working out alone or workout from home without a spotter? These bodybuilders can be safe as well by following a few tips.
Invest in a safety rack or power rack. This device works to keep the weights and bar from falling if you’re unable to lift anymore. A power rack is great for bench pressing and doing squats. The safety rack becomes your spotter, allowing you to pile on as much weight as you can stand and still keeping you safe. The safety pins keep the weights from falling and will catch the bar if needed. Before this safety device, bodybuilders either risked injury when benching mass amounts of weight alone or just didn’t lift to their maximum limit. Not lifting to your max is another tip for safely training alone. Unfortunately, it doesn’t provide the intense and effective workout as desired by serious bodybuilders. A great way to bench press without a spotter is to use dumbbells instead of a bar. They are safer and a lot of weight can still be lifted during a workout.
Aside from the actual workout, there are other safety tips that should be followed when bodybuilding. Always stretch and warm-up before lifting. This not only prevents injury, but it helps you lift even more weight. Make sure the weights are always secure before beginning to lift to prevent loose, falling weights. Keep your workout area at a cool temperature and be sure the floors are not slippery. This prevents falling and heat-related injuries.
